What brought you to EGM?

Short and sweet, as the title says it all.

I wish to enquire what brought to EGM; why you decided to sign up, and what feature you like best (from what we have released) and why!

I'll begin with simply, I work here :)
My favourite feature has definately got to be the particle system, although a feature recommended for advanced users, the uses for it are endless. During testing we have use it to make fire, to create sword slashes, we've made explosions, we've created weather effects with it, and many other cool and uncategorizable effects!

Of course I am not limited to this in my favourites, I especially like the idea of the user interface, the notion of drag and drop, reorganising and saving tabs, and the general workflow is a breath of fresh air compared to some other game makers.

Maybe the fact that these features were amongst my responsibilities in EGM biased my vote, but i'd love to hear what you all have to say!

Hmm guess i'll go next, i'm here because i work with the creators of this site and this game maker on a regular basis (meaning i try to say helpful things every now and again lol). My favourite feature is probably the particle system as well. I've gotten J250 to show it to me at one point and i liked watching the pretty colours move across the sceen in strange ways lol I can imagine using it loads of ways already and think its a very useful addition.

Where's ma cookies?

I'm here because I like to follow projects around game development.

I'm a developer myself, currently working with ASP.net and Silverlight with C#. Also have done minor things with WinForms and XNA. So projects like these sure keep me interested in game-development.

And I hope Mr.Mo still knows me Think Angel

A. It's all that and a bag of chips.
B. The particle system looks kick butt, yo!
C. I'm diggin' the whole custom passability tiles
D. No way near as limited as the RM series, however, a somehwat similar interface which is a good thing. =)
E-Z. Whatever else someone says thats a really awesome feature to look forward to. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

Hi,
what brought me here was Google while searching for an inventory tutorial for Gamemaker 7.0 ,
as an inventory and dialogue system is all that I'm missing for my RPG engine to be more or less
complete, which I have spent forever making.
I'm personally sick of Gamemaker, and think it is pretty outdated and doesn't seem to take
advantage of new leaps in software, plain and simple: I think it's starting to get a tad old fashioned.
While the GameMaker Community is huge,the Gamemaker program itself seems to be little influenced
by the community. It is this that made me interested in following the development of Express -
Gamemaker, it seems fresh and new, and to be influenced to some extent by the community, this is
exactly what I was hoping for. Also, I miss the simplicity of pure Drag & Drop game creation
softwares, and as this seems to be developed with the RPG genre in mind, I thought that I would
recreate my current RPG engine and improve it in Express Gamemaker.

the satisfaction in see one game maker using the best of each other game makers to develop the absolutely tool.

each day I pass in the front of IGM I hate it more and more. Hell for his creator and Enterbrain.. lol

Open source C# engine

I will vote for any game maker can split out good souce for me to play with. :)

I'm a relative happy IGM user, dispite all it's limitation and bugs, it's still the quickest way to realize my game design. But when it comes to souce, I simply dislike it.

I'm curious about how EGM hadling it's Editor-Souce relation; Whether the map format easy to interpret. I'll not try to make my own editor, but definitely like to has the opportunity to automate some map post-processing via code/script.

Btw, when will the demo come out?

For me same as this, but without as many limits as possibly from other makers. :)

I have fooled around with the RPG Makers and other engines for years, but they all end up seeming so limited and I lose interest. But this one has real time combat, unlimited tile layers, supports higher resolutions ... Very exciting features. And the ability to make games for Xbox live, of course.

Also excited to get in to the EGM scene early, can't wait for the open beta.

I've used the RPG makers for... practically forever. Retired admin of a major RMVX site. Was linked this by another person I know from there and found it interesting. Can't say I'm overly excited or optimistic (I'm not about many things honestly), but all the stuff that I've seen so far does have me at least interested.

Multi-platform deployment! Source Editor! Graphic Control! Built in Particle Effects!

Point being, I love all the features that you have posted and am extremely excited to try them all out. I may only be a single person at the moment, but it only takes a couple of words to get others involved in my endeavors. My first plan of action is to create a Tactical Battle System, so that I can resume my work on my somewhat already existing game.

Not only am I looking forward to the current features we'll have, but I'm also excited about the future of EGM and what new features we'll get then! :)

I can't even imagine what EGM V2.0 will look like, or EGM V4.0... etc...

Like a few other people I grew tired of using the other makers out there as my dev team currently use RMVX and RMXP and although
they are good and all but limited and really i don't like Enterbrain's decision to use Ruby when there are other scripting systems out there that blow Ruby outta the water but mostly what brought me here was a post by someone on a common RMVX community so curious as always clicked the link and it brought me here so I skimmed over the features and such and said to myself:"I think I found the game development software I and my team have been looking for!"
The main thing that caught my eye was the unlimited amount of map layers and use of multiple tilesets on a single map which is great as even though on RMVX and XP you can make detailed maps the ones that can be created with this are surely going to be amazing!
I can't wait to get my hands on this when its released!

I was speculative at first about EGM but as I began to investigate further I gained hope that it might actually pull through and be a viable competitor to the RPG Maker series, if not a superior product; as such, I want to do my part and contribute what experience I have to the tool's development.

To the point: I've been waiting a very long time for someone to step up and compete with Enterbrain. I've wanted a more comprehensive and easier to use tool than RPG Maker has provided me thus far; I think EGM might be just that.

Also, I enjoy game-production software and am always on the look-out for the latest and greatest in tool software development.

EGM looked like a very promising game maker and still does. I have been looking for a good one because i found rmxp to be a bit to limited and IGM/AGM's user interface was horrible but EGM looks great and the features just keep getting better Love
