I was recently reading up about Stencyl on TIGSource and it's an interesting enough piece of software. However, it doesn't lend itself to certain aspects of game development in an efficient manner. A quick Google search revealed a few more options for me and here I am. I am student currently seeking a degree in game design. With any luck I will have graduated in the next six months and it would be madness for me to pursue a career with a AAA company right out of school. Right now, 2D is making a massive resurgence and I'd like to get in on that. I've been waiting, and waiting to get in on the public beta here, but it looks like that could take a good long while. So I guess I'm going to go sign up for the private beta.
