I'll try and elaborate a bit on the menu confusion I'm having.
My very simple goal for my first activity to do, was to grab a Fire Emblem tileset I have that I obtained from the Game Maker community, and import it to the tilesets, and then make a simple map. Nothing like events or anything like that, I just wanted to see what I could do and make a simple map.
I imported the tileset, no problems. I made a new map, no problems. I changed the tile size from both the map and the tileset to 17X17 pixels wide, still no problems. Then at some point I was trying to figure out how to "paint" the tiles onto the map and it crashed.
The thing is, there's 4 tabs at the top of the screen (Main, View, Release, and Help) and inside those tabs are a shit ton of buttons.
Inside the Main tab is the Maps and Tilesets button, but inside the View tab are tileset and map
explorer buttons. I can't tell half the time which button I'm supposed to click, just out of those selections. IMO if there was an option to compact the Main and the View tabs together, I'd be happier cause then I wouldn't have to switch so often. (The little windows that pop out on the side are more confusing because I can't figure out how they're assigned over there, and if I (accidentally) remove one of them, I can't get it back. Except by clicking around on the other 100 buttons hoping I click the right one.
For a final release, when this whole thing is completed, it would be AWESOME if there were some kind of fully and 100% guided demonstration of how to maneuver around in the editor. That little tutorial off to the right side (no offense meant) just doesn't work for me. As I said, the layout seems to be a bit confusing, or maybe I'm just really stupid. :l
Edit: I couldn't upload .xml files with the default forum uploader though which is why I had to use rapidshare.
